Pictures above are the outcome of my styling and photography project based on the concept of padding and Victorian Silhouette.

All pictures were taken by me using Nikon D3100 and were printed in matte photo paper.

Model: Carlotta Ellegast.

I recycled the fashion trend of Victorian dress and up-cycle the use of duvet, blanket and neck pillow, also glow sticks.

I did 2 photo-shoots – style the duvet and blanket into a dress and style the blanket using my diy crinoline. Within the shoots I tried to make the dress varied in style by using a black cloth that I turned into a belt, pin and the model hands. For the crinoline, I made it using 72 glow sticks and brown Sellotape. I created 7cm gap in between each circle. The first ring has 4 glow sticks and it continues added up 1 stick until I produce 9 loops.

After sorting the best pics, 3 pictures above made me want to explore further as an advertisement page page also a front cover of mag. For some reason, I feel it fit with Dior kind of style. I play around using the word "Duvét"as a brand. I used "é" instead of "e" just because it seems better and elegance in its way.

I’m satisfied with the outcome. It was fun on the set. Together with the model, we spontaneously style the duvet and a blanket into dress without planning beforehand. I did lots of experimentation with the duvet and blanket without ruin them. There are several shoots that I combine crinoline with Yukata, the traditional Japanese dress. It was unintentional and I delighted with the result. In some shoots I showed the crinoline outside of the dress. I also used it as an accessory, which was inspired by Comme des Garçons’ runway collection.

This project made me want to explore digital photo editor such as Photoshop and Lightroom, to further to bring up the pictures by playing around with effects. I also would like to learn long exposure photography in order to shoot the crinoline in the dark; as it glows. Next time, I’m going to make the crinoline and shoot it straight away after I finish it.
