This is another styling and photography project. This time, the project is based on the concept of "Mirror".
In this project themed ‘mirror’, I’m doing photo shoots of an unknown model in various styles. The element of mirror arises personally when the audience sees the images. Throughout looking at images, I hope the audience will find their ‘mirror’ among the styles I reflect, and the outfits worn by the models in pictures.
The styles that I created inspired by my classmates, including my own. We dress differently according to our taste. We are the representation of people out there that have the same taste in the way we dress.
My initial plan was style the model and doing the photo-shoot in a clothing store. However, I met lots of obstacles to do my work; the crowdedness in the clothing store. I could not manage to mix and match clothes and take pictures in the fitting room. I went on my project with my back up plan. I used my model's clothes as she has abundance of them. The photo-shoot was taken in the campus studio, using their equipment.
Within the pictures, I cover the model’s face using a mask to disguise her identity. I want the audience to focus on the fashion style that the model put into on each photograph. With a help of my friend, I managed to style the model’s hair according to the outfit style she is wearing. I directed the pose of the model to be adapted to the personality of each different style.
I’m satisfied with the overall outcomes. I realised the shoot could have been better using white/grey background to make a contrast. It is because I used lots of black outfit. The hair of the model also black thus the different style of the hair on each picture cannot clearly be seen. Moreover, I think that the outcome could be enhance if the model wearing different wig (in color/hairstyle) on different clothing. It helps to conceal the model’s identity and added subject interest to the pictures.
