This project inspired by my experience of weather in the UK for 3 years. I had sense four different seasons throughout the year. As I’m from a tropical country, Indonesia, It’s necessary for me to buy new clothes for wintertime. My first school in England used to be nearby clothing stores, thus it took me to hunt clothes to match with season. Since then, clothes became my obsession.

Eventually this practice brought me a problem as I lived with host family. They not allowed me to keep my stuff during holiday so I got limited place to put my stuff in my suitcases.

The point that I want to pull out is that as I moved, there must be several clothes I abandon due to limited space of my luggage. This frustrated me to chose clothes to be removed.

Based on this experience I came up with an idea to make a coat that is useful throughout a year. The muse for this product is pedestrian. I’m going to make 4 in 1 clothes based on all seasons in the UK. Through the year, the clothes going to metamorphosis to a different style, adjusting the season.

The coat is flexible. I apply the idea by making several pieces removable using zip. It placed on the neckline (to join the hood), on the top of the sleeves, and one around the waist (to extend the coat). There is also an additional jacket placed in the inside. It’s collarless and attachable to the coat. The design was inspired by a parka collection by Aishi that I found at Brown Focus store in London.

The transformation style of the coat begins with summer look. This is the coat without all the attachable pieces. The coat added the lower part on the waist for autumn look. In the beginning of winter, the sleeves need to be placed. As the temperature is decreasing at wintertime, the jacket needs to attach. Towards spring, all attachable pieces of the coat slowly remove. Ultimately only leaves the additional clothes inside the coat for the spring look.

We can never predict the weather accurately. Rain comes whenever in a day. Thus I think hood is very important for pedestrian. I design it detachable both to the coat and jacket.

The design encourages people to dress smartly responding the weather. I want to emphasis the main function of wearing clothes that is for protection. There is no need to be sacrifice in order to look good. Confortable and chic must stand together in clothes we are wearing.
